When will you be opening for the 2020 season?

Typically we open on the long weekend in May. The entire world is quieter now. While we trust life will return to normal, we will be delaying our opening in accordance with public health advisories. We look forward to hosting our guests this summer and are hopeful we will be able to open in June, however we will only open once our public health authorities advise that it’s safe to do so. Will I be refunded for my deposit for May or June 2020 if you are not open or if I am not able to visit Prince Edward Island due to travel restrictions?

Quite simply, the answer is yes. We will be flexible on all deposits in May and June due to the current health advisories and the various travel restrictions that are in place. Should you book (even now) and it doesn’t work out we can reschedule you for a later date this summer, you can convert your deposit into your 2021 stay, or you can cancel with zero penalty.

What’s the current situation with the Cavendish Beach Music Festival (CBMF)?

The Cavendish Beach Music Festival is the biggest annual event on PEI’s annual North Shore. We appreciate that the organizers are keeping festival-goers updated on the status of this year’s event. Please continue watching their page for updates in the coming weeks ❤. At the present time they are intending to proceed as planned. If the event proceeds, our regular non-refundable deposit policy will be in effect. Should travel restrictions impact your ability to visit, we will apply your deposit toward a future stay in 2020 or CBMF 2021.

What happens if the pandemic continues into the summer/fall or I am unable to travel in 2020 due to travel restrictions?

Our guests’ and staff’s safety are our number one priority. It seems the world has changed overnight and, like you, we are taking it day-by-day. For the 2020 season, we are implementing a new Extenuating Circumstances Policy which will cover travel during our high season (July – September 2020). This policy will protect travelers from cancellation penalties ONLY in the event of last minute travel advisories/restrictions or safety precautions that may be imposed by the WHO, our local public health authorities or our guests’ jurisdiction in relation to viruses, including COVID-19. Since we start taking reservations for 2021 as soon as we open, we’d like to recommend rescheduling your visit for 2021.

Please note that if you do not believe you will be able to travel and there are no travel advisories or restrictions in place, our normal cancellation policies will be in effect.

I am staying at PEI Dream Cottages. The policy for these summer homes are no refunds after May 1st. Will this policy change?

We have currently extended the timeline to cancel until June 1, 2020. Hopefully, by this time we will have a better understanding of what is happening for the 2020 season, public health advisories and travel restrictions/allowances.

Will you be implementing new cleaning and disinfecting protocols for the 2020 season?

Yes. We are committed to very high standards of hygiene and cleanliness and are taking steps to ensure the safety of our guests and employees. Specific steps we are taking include:

Employee Health, Safety and Knowledge:

Our team will have ongoing training and support to ensure cleaning and disinfecting protocols are being followed. This will ensure health and safety for both our guests and team.

Cleaning Products and Protocols:

We are working with our suppliers to meet Health Canada’s requirement for authorized disinfectants that can be used against emerging viral pathogens including SARS-CoV-2 and the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. We have adopted a two-step approach which involves regular routine cleaning with an all- purpose cleaner followed by disinfection of all high touch items with the approved products.

  • Guest Rooms: In addition to routine cleaning, all guest rooms will be equipped with hand sanitizers and disinfectant sprays that the guests can use to maintain disinfection. As part of or routine cleaning, the following surfaces in each room which are commonly touched will be disinfected:
    • door handles and light switches
    • tables and counters
    • armrests of chairs (if not fabric)
    • TV buttons and remote controls, telephones, air conditioner (A/C) buttons and remote controls, kitchen appliances, fridge door handles
    • bathroom including door handle, door lock, toilet seat and buttons, taps, wash-basins, counters, shower and/or bath
  • Public Spaces: We have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting in public spaces, with a focus on the counter at the front desk, door handles, and room keys.
  • Back of House: In the spaces where employees work “behind the scenes,” we are increasing the frequency of cleaning and focusing on high-touch areas such as associate entrances, the laundry room, and employee bathrooms.

What will change in 2020 due to COVID-19?

Being a small community-driven island, we are resilient and can easily adapt to change. As we move out of a period of social distancing, we will be more aware of crowded spaces. We’re a small property with lots of open green space. We’re also surrounded by farmland and offer panoramic views of the ocean.

All of our cottages and summer homes have their own private decks and separate entrance. Please note that the only exception to this is Suites 1-3 do have a shared deck area.

It’s also realistic to note that the North Shore’s tourism season may change – some places may not open BUT other places may offer a less-crowded and more intimate visitor experience. The bottom line is that we simply don’t have all the answers, but we do know that the North Shore will continue to be a beautiful place for families and couples to vacation for years to come.

What new services will you provide to allow people to minimize contact and maintain social distancing practices?

Pools and Campfires
We anticipate new guidelines will be in place for our pool and campfires to ensure social distancing. We’ll be sure to share this information, once we know what it is.

Grocery Pick Up and Restaurant Deliveries
To assist our guests, we plan to offer grocery pick up at the Atlantic Superstore in Summerside. We will be launching details shortly, but guests will be able to pre-order online at pre-set times, prepay for their order and then we will pick it up for a $15 delivery fee. As well, we are currently coordinating delivery services with some of our favorite restaurant partners.

Contactless Check-in
If you contact us before you arrive, we can minimize on-site interaction by offering a contactless check-in and coordinating to have supplies delivered to your door. Please email us 3 days prior to arrival at to make arrangements.
